Our History

Built in 1910 by local architect J.A. Phillips, Lion’s Head was the home of Hugh Wilson, Superintendent of the Toronto Electric Development Corporation, one of the world’s first hydro-electric generating stations. Lion’s Head was the first house with a poured foundation in the Niagara Region, as such, it remains one of the few buildings that is completely original, with no restorations.

An Edwardian, Arts and Craft design, the straight lines of Lion’s Head showcase wonderful interiors with leaded-crystal windows, a chestnut staircase and rare pocket doors. The building’s exterior features the grand front porch with its panoramic view of the gorge.
